Maturation and development
“As farmer and rural producer, I have always lent support to my children in their choices and wished them success. When the opportunity emerged for teenagers to be apprentices at the Growing-Up Right Institute, we encouraged the youngest of my three children to enroll in the course and he ended up lucky enough to attend the course for two years, because of the pandemic the contract was extended. What makes us really happy is the fact that, along with learning about entrepreneurship and rural management, Daniel experienced great development in terms of emotional and behavioral maturation. It used to be difficult for him to relate to others and he was shy, but with group work, study trips, living with colleagues, his socialization side improved considerably.
After he course, Daniel got a job as a school monitor trainee in the Municipal Administration of Herveiras. At present, 18 years old, he is taking a Technical Course in Computer Science at the University of Santa Cruz do Sul, an area for a possible job position in the future. What he learned at the course held by the Growing-Up Right Institute was important for his life because the tasks and activities led him to reflect on future options as executer of life projects.
For our farm, the course was equally relevant because Daniel used to bring knowledge, especially about topics related to the environment, value of agriculture, future of the agro and diversification. Between the beginning and the end of the course, a great difference in maturation could be seen in Daniel, as he learned a lot of things, made friends and began to talk more at home. He likes the course very much and missed it when it came to an end”
