Simultaneously broadcast live, the meeting encompassed the following centers of activity: Santa Cruz do Sul (RS), Canguçu (RS) and Itaiópolis (SC), bringing together more than 160 participants including apprentices, former students of the Rural Professional Learning Program and team of the Institute.
The event was live streamed from the center of Santa Cruz do Sul, in the Memorial Auditorium of the University of Santa Cruz do Sul (RS), venue where the following groups from Rio Grande do Sul met: Agudo, Gramado Xavier, Novo Cabrais and Vera Cruz. The group from São Lourenço do Sul attended the event at the Legislative Chamber in Canguçu. The groups from Itaiópolis (SC) and São João do Triunfo (PR), watched the event at the Hugo Dylla office, in the Paraguaçu community, in Itaiópolis. Former students from several territories, assisted the year before, were present in the three centers.
With the subject matter “Sowing connections reaping sustainability”, the event was an opportunity for exchanging experiences and presenting projects focused on Sustainable Development Objectives (SDO). Know the highlights:
- Agudo and Gramado Xavier (RS): community research on the impacts caused by the flooding conditions and the importance of riparian forests.
- São Lourenço do Sul (RS): family awareness and the application of the 7 sustainability Rs: – rethink, refuse, reduce, repair, reutilize, recycle and reintegrate.
- Novo Cabrais and Vera Cruz (RS): The magic of nature’s colors was the topic of the project whose objective consisted in promoting environmental awareness and interaction of young apprentices and children at EMEF School Jacob Blesz and EMEF School Theófilo Teodoro Streck.
- Itaiópolis (SC) and São João do Triunfo (PR): presentation by apprentices focused on the pedagogical visits to the Botanical Garden, Museum Oscar Niemeyer and to the Brazil’s Urban Farm, in Curitiba (PR), with the observation of sustainable environmental practices and later research works and adaptation to different types of soil and characteristics.
TALES AND LEGENDS – One of the most anticipated moments of the event was the launch of the e-book “Tales and Legends”, fruit of an activity proposed to the students by the educators of the Institute. The literary production consists of a collection of Illustrated stories of mysteries and common beliefs brought back by the young in their communities, thus holding in high esteem the local culture. Besides the tales and legends, a glossary explains the meaning of words and expressions typical of each region. “Each tale represents a link between generations, a reflection of our identity and our roots. The initiative attaches great importance to cultural diversity and demonstrates that a language reflects history”, comments Graziele Silveira Pinton, coordinator of the Projects Development Department. WORD OF FORMER STUDENTS – One of the main purposes of the Annual Meeting of Rural Apprentices is to keep the current apprentices in contact with the former students from different municipalities. The latter share their experiences with the current students on matters related to the Rural Professional Learning Program they attended. Check the statements of the event live streamed on Youtube.
“This meeting is Always an opportunity to learn, and it reflects the spirit of the Institute: learning. I get emotional when I witness the evolution of our apprentices and former students. The theme of this year is even more special because it highlights the importance of people, whether through awareness, or through initiatives related to sustainable practices. My message is for all of them is to keep on the right track, seeking knowledge and taking advantage of the opportunities that arise as time goes by, as is the case of the Institute, which will certainly make the difference in your lives”, stressed Iro Schünke, director president of the Growing-Up Right Institute.
